The Next Steps below will provide you with the information you need to successfully enroll at USF. Some of these Steps can be completed now. Others you will complete later in the Spring, before the start of classes in the Fall.

Please Read Before You Take Step 1

myUSF

The myUSF Web Portal is USF’s online community resource, and provides access to the USF network, your USF e-mail account, and many other services. You must Log Into myUSF in order to take several of the following Next Steps, including those to Reserve Your Place at USF, Apply for Housing, Register for Classes, View Your Student Account, and Update Your Contact Information.

You may log into myUSF with the Username included in your admission decision letter and the associated Password you will create. To log in for the first time, Go To myUSF and Click On the Set New/Forgot Password? link in the left-hand column. Then follow the instructions to enter the information required to create and set your new Password.

Please note that USF offices normally will send messages only to your myUSF e-mail address. You should check it often to be sure that you receive important information.

Step 1: Reserve Your Place at USF

Submit Your Intent to Enroll Form
Submission of the Intent to Enroll Form provides an easy way for you to tell us that you will accept your USF offer of admission.

Pay Your Admission Tuition Deposit by May 1, 2015
To reserve your place at USF for the Fall 2015 semester, you must submit a non-refundable $250 admission tuition deposit by May 1. Deposits received after May 1 will be accepted only on a space available basis.

If you are admitted after May 1, you must submit your tuition deposit no later than two weeks after you receive your admission letter.

Pay Your Admission Tuition Deposit Online by Credit Card or Electronic Check (eCheck)
Your admission tuition deposit may be paid online by credit card or electronic check.

To pay your tuition deposit online, log into myUSF.*

Once in myUSF:

Click On View & Pay link
Click On Make Payment link
Click On Web Admission Deposit

Once in Web Admission Deposit:

Enter Payment Amount of $250
Select Fall 2015 Term
Click On Add to Charges to Pay
Click On Checkout
Select Payment Method
Click On Continue Checkout
Enter Credit Card Number or eCheck Information

Please note that you must have a U.S.-based bank account from which funds may be withdrawn to pay with an eCheck. Payment with an international account may be made via peerTransfer. (See Step 8. Section: International Bank Wire Transfers - Using peerTransfer)

Pay Your Admission Tuition Deposit by International Bank Draft or Personal Check
You may also pay your admission tuition deposit by international bank draft or personal check. Payment should be made payable to the University of San Francisco in the amount of $250.

Please note that international bank drafts must be made payable through a major bank in the U.S., and may take several weeks to be cleared for payment to USF.

Deadline: May 1. If you are admitted after May 1, you must complete this Step no later than two weeks after you receive your admission letter.

Step 2: Apply for On-Campus Housing

Please note: All new undergraduate students who have 40 or fewer college-level course credits or transfer credits at the time they submit a completed Housing Application are required to live on campus for their first two semesters of enrollment at USF. If you are not required to live on campus, you may still apply for housing, which will be assigned only on a space available basis.

Apply for On-Campus Housing Through USFrooms, Beginning February 2015
You may apply for on-campus housing through USFrooms, an online application service, beginning February 2015.

The USFrooms Video provides detailed instructions on how to apply for on-campus housing. Visit the Office of Student Housing and Residential Education (SHaRE) website to view the Video.

Submit Your Housing Application
To submit your housing application, Go to the SHaRE website and:

Click On Apply Now! USFrooms button
Log In With your myUSF username and password
Select 2015-2016 Academic Year link

Follow the instructions to create your Personal Profile, indicate your residence hall preference, complete the housing contract, search for a roommate, and submit your housing application.

Please note that the terms of your Housing Contract will include your agreement to live on campus in both Fall 2015 and Spring 2016. You may be released from this contractual obligation to live on campus for the entire 2015-2016 Academic Year only under exceptional circumstances, and with the approval of SHaRE staff.

Pay Your Housing Deposit
You are required to submit a $300 Housing Deposit as part of your Housing Application. (See Step 1 and follow the instructions on how to pay your admission tuition deposit to pay your housing deposit. On the Make Payment link, select Web Housing Deposit). If you are assigned housing, this Deposit will become non-refundable, and will serve as a Pre-Payment for your room charges. If you are not assigned housing, your housing deposit will be refunded to you.

International Student Move-In Days: August 18-19, 2015
New international students may move into their campus residence hall rooms beginning August 18, the first of two International Student Move-In Days: Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19.

Please note that you will not be able to move into on-campus housing before August 18. If you arrive in San Francisco early, you must make temporary housing arrangements. Visit the San Francisco Travel Association website for suggestions.

Deadline: May 1, 2015. If you are admitted after May 1, you should complete this Step as soon as possible.

Please note that on-campus housing is limited, that we receive more applications than we have rooms available, and that we assign rooms in priority order based on application date.

Please note also that SHaRE staff will send all housing-related correspondence to your myUSF e-mail address only, and will begin issuing room and roommate assignment notifications in June 2015.

Off-Campus Housing

If you wish to live off campus, or do not receive an on-campus housing assignment, be sure to visit the SHaRE Off-Campus Housing web page. Here you will find descriptions of San Francisco neighborhoods, suggestions on how to start a housing search, a set of USF housing search tools, and many other resources.

Step 3: Apply for Your F-1 Student Visa

Your F-1 Student Visa
Most often, if you are a citizen of a foreign country wishing to enter the United States for purposes of undergraduate study, you must request and be granted permission to do so in the form of an F-1 Student Visa issued by the U.S Department of State. Your Visa Application serves as your request for permission, and Issuance of Your F-1 Student Visa grants you permission to study at a specific U.S. institution.

An F-1 Student Visa is a stamp endorsed in your passport that indicates that a Consular Officer at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad has determined that you are eligible to request entry to the United States for study at a designated institution.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires that international students be accepted by a school approved by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and enrolled in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) before applying for a visa. USF is an SEVP-certified school, and you have been enrolled in SEVIS based on your admission to USF.

You must have received your USF Form I-20 [Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status], paid your SEVIS I-901 Fee, and completed all Visa Application Requirements before your F-1 Student Visa can be issued. Please see below for further information.

Please note that you must obtain your F-1 Student Visa before beginning your studies at USF.

Your USF Form I-20
If you are an international student who applied for admission from outside of the U.S., your USF Form I-20 has been enclosed with your admission letter. Please review the accuracy of the I-20 information and be in touch with your Admission Counselor or Contact Us as soon as possible if you notice any errors.

If you are an international student already studying in the U.S. on an F-1 Student Visa, your USF I-20 will be issued once your SEVIS Record has been released to USF by your current International Student Adviser. This usually is done once you have completed your studies at your current school. Instructions on How to Request Release and Transfer of Your SEVIS Record have been enclosed with your admission letter.

Your SEVIS I-901 Fee
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires that you pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee of $200 before you submit your F-1 Student Visa Application. For more information, and to pay the Fee, please visit the DHS Study in the States Paying Your I-901 SEVIS Fee web page.

Please note that you must Present Proof of Payment of the SEVIS I-901 Fee at your Visa Interview (See Below: Your Visa Interview) in order for your visa to be issued.

Your F-1 Student Visa Application
Please note that you cannot apply for a visa within the United States, and that your visa can only be issued through an application submitted to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.

You may apply for your student visa up to 120 days before the date you are required to arrive at USF. This date is indicated on your I-20 as the “expected to report” date. The Expected to Report Date for Fall 2015 is August 22, the First Day of International Student Orientation (See Step 15), which you are required to attend.

To Apply for an F-1 Student Visa, you will need to complete all Visa Application Requirements and Schedule a Visa Interview Appointment at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The visa application process varies for each country, so please contact the Embassy or Consulate where you plan to apply for specific instructions.

Visa Application Requirements
Although the specific visa application process is different in each country, several standard items are required for all students:

  • Current Passport Valid for Travel to the United States (Valid For At Least 6 Months)
  • One Passport-Style Photograph
  • SEVIS I-901 Fee of $200 and Proof of Payment Receipt
  • Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form (DS-160) and Printed Confirmation Page
  • Visa Application Processing Fee of $160 and Proof of Payment Receipt
  • Original Form I-20
  • Copies of Your USF Admission Letter, Academic Records, and Test Scores documenting your acceptance to USF, academic preparation and qualifications, and English language proficiency.
  • Certification of Finances and Supporting Documents showing that you have sufficient funds to pay for all of your educational, living, and travel expenses for at least your first year of study at USF.

Your Visa Interview Appointment
A Brief Interview with a Consular Officer will be held in English and will be required as part of your visa application process. You should be prepared to provide proof that you have a permanent residence outside the United States, to give evidence of strong family or other ties to your home country, and to explain how studying in the U.S. will relate to your future professional career goals when you return home.

Step 4: Complete the Webtrack Advising Tutorial & Quiz

Webtrack is USF’s Online Academic Advising Program. The Webtrack Advising Tutorial will introduce you to important information about USF’s academic policies and procedures and describe your Core Curriculum, Major, and Graduation Requirements. The Webtrack Advising Tutorial Video features faculty experts in your major who will guide you through the academic advising and course registration process.

Watch the Webtrack Advising Tutorial Video, Beginning June 8, 2015
The Webtrack Advising Tutorial will become available on June 8. Go to the Webtrack page and select your major from the drop-down menus to watch the Webtrack Advising Tutorial Video. Faculty Academic Advisers in your major will review requirements and curriculum plans, and suggest courses for you to take in Fall 2015. If you have trouble viewing the Video, you can also download a PDF version of the Tutorial.

Take the Webtrack Quiz
After completing the Tutorial, you must pass the Webtrack Quiz before you can begin registering for classes.

Please Note that you must make an Admission Tuition Deposit before you can take the Webtrack Quiz.

Go to the Webtrack page and click on the Webtrack Quiz link in the center of the page to take the Quiz.

Schedule an Academic Advising Phone Appointment
At the end of the Webtrack Quiz, you will be invited to schedule an Academic Advising Phone Appointment with an Academic Adviser, and we strongly encourage you to do so. You may schedule your Academic Advising Phone Appointment on Thursday, June 18; Tuesday, June 23; or Thursday, June 25.

Please note that you should Register for Classes Before Your Academic Advising Appointment, so that your Adviser can be prepared to discuss your Fall 2015 course schedule. You should have Access to a Computer and Internet Connection during your appointment, and be prepared to explain your reasons for registering for specific courses to your Adviser.

Don't worry if you are unable to schedule an appointment: Once you have registered, an Adviser in your academic (major) department will review your course schedule and will contact you through your myUSF e-mail address with any questions. Faculty also will be available to meet with you during New Student Orientation (See Step 15).

Transfer Students are required either to schedule academic advising phone appointments or to be in touch with their departments.

Deadline: Webtrack will become available on June 8 and Course Registration will begin on June 15. You must complete the Webtrack Advising Tutorial and Webtrack Quiz before you can register for classes.

Academic Advising

Before You Register for Fall 2015 Classes
Your USF academic advising experience will begin even before you come to campus, even before you meet with any of your advisers, and even before you register for classes.

This is made possible through your participation in Webtrack, our online academic advising and course registration program. (See Step 4 for details.) Webtrack will assist you to select and register for your courses, and enable you to discuss your Fall 2015 course schedule with a real person through an e-mail or phone conversation.

During New Student Orientation
Your School or College will hold a series of special workshops to welcome you to your program and to introduce you to those faculty and staff who will serve as your “academic consultants” while you are a USF undergraduate.

One or more of these advisers will be happy to review your Fall 2015 class schedule, and to answer any questions you might have about beginning your studies at USF.

Please view the Fall 2015 New Student Orientation Schedule to find out when and where the first “Orientation to Your Major” session will be held.

After Fall 2015 Classes Begin
After classes begin, you will be assigned a Faculty Adviser familiar with the academic and career requirements of your major field of study. If you have not yet chosen a major, an Adviser in your School or College will help you explore the many possibilities.

Your Faculty Adviser will serve as your mentor and guide as you ask and answer such questions as: “Should I double-major?” “Minor in a program?” “Intern or volunteer?” “Do research or fieldwork?” And, very importantly: “What courses should I take each semester?”

Together with your Academic Success Coach (See “Academic Coaching and Support,” below) your Faculty Academic Adviser will help you develop your unique 4-year graduation plan.

Immigration Advising
Our International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Office staff will provide personalized advice on all aspects of your stay in the United States. From maintaining your visa status to working or traveling while you study to changing your address or changing your major, ISSS staff are here to help you.

Academic Support
Center for Academic and Student Achievement (CASA)
CASA staff will introduce you to the academic and personal resources on campus designed to support, promote, and encourage your success.

Academic Coaching and Support
Your Academic Success Coach will provide you with academic coaching and personal support throughout your time at USF. International students may also receive assistance from special bilingual Academic Success Coaches.

Learning & Writing Center
The Learning & Writing Center provides you with opportunities to increase and enhance your academic skills and offers a variety of support services––all free––to help you succeed at USF.

Writing Center
Specially trained faculty consultants at the Writing Center work with you to improve your writing skills through one-on-one conferences tailored to meet your individual needs. You will learn how to conceptualize and develop an idea, create a first draft, correct your own errors, and write persuasively and with sophistication at the level demanded by college courses.

Peer Tutoring
Peer Tutoring is available across the curriculum. Peer Tutors are current USF students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their subjects and who are committed to fostering academic success in others.

Student Success Workshops
Student Success Workshops offer tips on such topics as time management, test-taking skills, note-taking, reading techniques, and exploring your academic interests and strengths.

Step 5: Prepare to Register: View Your Requirements

View Your Degree Evaluation and Degree Requirements
Your Degree Evaluation will list your Core Curriculum, Major, and Graduation Requirements.

To View Your Degree Evaluation, log into myUSF.

Once in myUSF:

Go To Self-Service area
Click On Student button
Click On Student Records
Click On Degree Evaluation

Please note that this Step is especially important for Transfer Students, who can also View Transfer Credits on their Degree Evaluations.

View Your Test Scores and Take Any Required Placement Tests
Your Test Scores will determine in which Mathematics, Language, and Writing Courses you are eligible to enroll.

To View Your Test Scores, log into myUSF.

Once in myUSF:

Go To Self-Service area
Click On Student button
Click On Student Records link
Click On View Test Scores link

Your test scores, required Placement Tests, and the Mathematics, language, and writing courses in which you are eligible to enroll in Fall 2015 will be listed on a new web page.

View Your Holds and Check Your Registration Status
Check Your Registration Status to make sure you have no Registration Holds that will prevent you from registering for classes or changing your class schedule.

To View Your Holds, log into myUSF.

Once in myUSF:

Go To Self-Service area
Click On Student button
Click On Student Records link
Click On View Holds link

Please note that, if you have any holds, you must be in touch with the office that placed the hold to find out how to remove the hold.

Especially for Transfer Students

University Evaluators in our Transfer Admission Center will review your college transcripts, determine USF course equivalencies, and award the appropriate number of Core Course, Elective Course, and Introductory Course transfer credits.

Faculty Evaluators in your major will determine whether college-level courses taken at another institution have met one or more of your Major Course requirements, and ensure that the appropriate number of transfer credits have been recorded.

To assist the University and Faculty Evaluators to award your transfer course credits, you are strongly encouraged to submit copies of the Course Descriptions and Course Syllabi related to the courses listed on your transcripts that you believe are eligible for transfer credit.

Once your transcripts have been evaluated and transfer credits awarded, you may review the results in myUSF.

To View Your Transfer Course Credits, log into myUSF.

Once in myUSF:

Step 6: Prepare to Register: Select Your Courses

Browse the Fall 2015 Class Schedule and Decide Which Courses To Take
Go to and Browse the Fall 2015 Class Schedule. Be sure to consider what you learned in the Webtrack Advising Tutorial, and in reviewing your Degree Evaluation, when selecting the Core, Major, or Elective courses you will take in Fall 2015.

  • Tips for Browsing the Class Schedule
    • The days of the week are abbreviated M – Monday, TR – Tuesday, W – Wednesday, R – Thursday, F – Friday, and S – Saturday.
    • Course Numbers indicate the student class level for which the course is primarily intended:
      100 - 199 Freshman 0-31 Course Credits
      200 - 299 Sophomore 32-63 Course Credits
      300 - 399 Junior 64-95 Course Credits
      400 - 499 Senior 96+ Course Credits

      Courses numbered 500 or above are graduate-level courses.

    • Course Prerequisites describe conditions you must have met before you will be allowed to take the class. Prerequisites may include such things as achieving a minimum test score, completing a related lower-level course with a certain grade, or being a declared major in the field.
    • Course Corequisites identify classes that must be taken together, such as a lecture course and associated laboratory course.
    • The CRN, or Course Registration Number, is a number assigned to uniquely identify each section of each course. You must select (or enter) the CRN to register for a class online.

Please note that you must confirm that the class is open for enrollment, and that you are eligible for enrollment in it, before you can register for the class.

English-Conditional Admits and the Academic English for Multilingual Students (AEM) Program

If you are an English-Conditional Admit, you will be required to Enroll in Between 4 and 16 Units (course credit hours) of Academic English for Multilingual Students (AEM) Program Courses during your first semester at USF. Your AEM Faculty Academic Adviser will decide which AEM courses you should take based on the TOEFL or IELTS Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking Scores you submitted as part of your application for admission. Your AEM Adviser will send your First-Semester Course List and other important information to your myUSF e-mail address.

In order to ensure that your AEM course schedule is correct, you will be required to take a two-part (written and oral) English Language Placement Test During International Student Orientation (See Step 15). Your test results will be used to confirm or revise your AEM course registration for Fall 2015.

Please note that your AEM Adviser will send your First-Semester Course List and special registration requirements to your myUSF e-mail address only. Please be sure to review this information and to be in touch with your AEM Adviser with any questions before you register for classes.

Step 7: Register for Classes & Buy Your Books

Register for Classes Online, Beginning June 15, 2015
Online Webtrack Registration for all new students begins June 15. You may register for classes any time between June 15 and August 31, the last day to add a class for Fall 2015.

You must log into myUSF to register for classes. For detailed instructions on how to register, please refer to the Webtrack Advising Tutorial (See Step 4).

Please note that you must complete the Student Agreement of Financial Responsibility before you begin online registration. The Agreement describes the terms and conditions under which you may register for classes, and informs you of the financial requirements that result from that registration.

Stay in Status
Please remember that all international undergraduate students must Study Full Time and take at least 12 units (course credit hours) each semester to Stay in Status for immigration purposes.

Stay on Track
Please remember to register for at least 16 units each semester to Stay on Track to make normal progress towards completing the 128 course credits required To Graduate.

View Your Booklist and Buy Your Books
Once you have registered for classes, you can View Your Booklist to learn what books and other materials are required for each of your courses.

To View Your Booklist, log into myUSF.

Once in myUSF:

Click On Buy Textbooks Online link
Select Fall 2015 Term
Click On Submit button
Click On Purchase Books at University of San Francisco Bookstore button

Your Booklist will appear on a new web page. You may rent or Buy Your Books through the USF Bookstore, or purchase them from any other available source.

Deadline: Registration begins June 15. Classes begin August 25. The last day to add a class for Fall 2015 is August 31.

Please note that all of your classmates will be registering during this time and that you should register as early as possible to ensure the widest selection of courses.

Step 8: View Your Student Account & Pay Your Bill

Money Matters
Non-U.S. and U.S. Bank Accounts
You will be assisted to Open a U.S. Bank Account During International Student Orientation (See Step 15). Once you have opened a bank account in the United States, you can receive money from a non-U.S. bank account by cable or wire transfer. You must give the person wiring the funds the U.S. bank routing number and your bank account number. You should verify the appropriate process with the non-U.S. bank before doing so.

Payments to USF
Please note that payments must be Made Payable to the University of San Francisco in U.S. Dollars, and include your Name and USF Student Identification Number. Missing information may cause confusion and delay in properly crediting payments to your Student Account.

International Bank Wire Transfers – Using peerTransfer
USF has partnered with peerTransfer to provide a fast, simple, and secure way for you to make payments for costs directly payable to USF, such as those for your admission and housing deposits, tuition, fees, health insurance, on-campus housing, and meal plan (room and board, if any).

You may send international bank wire transfer payments from any country in the world for direct deposit to your USF Student Account using peerTransfer. peerTransfer lets you track your payment from start to finish, and offers you support via live chat, e-mail, phone, or Skype, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Here you can View Your Bill, Make a Payment, or Create an Authorized Payer Profile.

Create an Authorized Payer Profile
Authorized Payers are parents, sponsors, or others who have your permission to view your bill and make a payment online on your behalf. If your parent, sponsor, or someone else will be paying your bills, you must Create an Authorized Payer Profile to enable the Authorized Payer to view your bill and to make payments on your behalf.

To Create an Authorized Payer Profile, log into myUSF.

Once in myUSF:

Click On View & Pay link
Click On Add New Parent or Authorized User

Authorized Payers can visit the Authorized Payer web page for more information.

Bill Notification
USF does not issue paper bills to students for tuition, fees, or room and board charges. Instead, a Bill Notification will be sent to your myUSF e-mail address after you have registered for classes. Additional bill notifications will be issued each time a new Account Statement is available. If you created an Authorized Payer Profile, your Authorized Payer will also receive bill notifications.

Please note that your Fall 2015 Semester Charges will be applied to your student account in early July, that View & Pay statements will be available online in mid-July, and that the Fall 2015 Semester Payment Due Date for Registered Students is August 1.

Please note also that bill notifications will be sent only to your myUSF e-mail address or to your Authorized Payer’s e-mail address, and will not be sent to any other personal e-mail address. You should check your myUSF e-mail address regularly, so that you do not miss seeing your bill notification, or any other important messages from USF.

Choose Your Method of Payment
You may pay your tuition using an Online eCheck, Personal Check, Bank Wire Transfer, or by enrolling in the monthly Automatic Payment Plan.

Please note that you must have a U.S.-based bank account from which funds may be withdrawn to pay with an eCheck or to participate in the Payment Plan.

Fall 2015 Semester Payments
Please note that international students must register for at least 12 units (course credit hours) to maintain full-time student status for immigration purposes.

Optional Pre-Payment of Tuition
Students enrolled in between 12 and 18 units in the Fall 2015 Semester will be charged the Full-Time Flat-Rate Tuition amount of $21,090 listed on the One Stop Tuition and Fees Schedule.

Should you wish, you may pre-pay your Fall 2015 Semester tuition in full before you register for classes. Additional charges for other expenses directly billed by USF––such as those for on-campus housing and meal plan (room and board, if any), health insurance, and undergraduate student fees––will be posted to your Student Account by the appropriate office.

Fall 2015 Payment Due Dates
If you Register for classes Before August 1, you must submit your payment for the total amount due by the Payment Due Date of August 1, or enroll in the monthly Automatic Payment Plan (See Above: Choose Your Method of Payment). If you Register for classes After August 1, your Date of Registration for Classes Becomes Your Payment Due Date. You must either pay the balance due at that time, or enroll in the monthly Automatic Payment Plan.

Please note that, if your parent, sponsor, or someone else will be paying your bills, you must Create an Authorized Payer Profile (See Above: Create an Authorized Payer Profile) to enable the Authorized Payer to view your bill and to make payments on your behalf.

Deadline: August 1, or Date of Registration for Classes, if you register after August 1. Late payment may result in late fees and course registration cancellation.

Step 9: Submit Proof of Immunization

To help protect the health of USF community members, USF requires all new students to have been immunized against certain diseases before they arrive at USF.

Required Immunizations
All students are required to submit evidence of having received two doses of the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Immunization. If proof of immunization for MMR is not available, a blood titer showing immunity for each disease will be accepted.

All students must also submit proof of having received three doses of the Hepatitis B Vaccine, or test results showing immunity.

International students are also required to submit proof that a Tuberculosis PPD (Mantoux) Test has been administered in the last 12 months. Students who test positive for PPD are required to submit a chest x-ray that has been taken within the last 12 months.

Submit Your Immunization Records
Proof of Immunization must be submitted in writing to the Health Promotion Services Office. Acceptable records include your immunization card, high school transcript showing your immunizations, or the USF Health Promotion Services Immunization Form. Please note that the USF Immunization Form must be completed by a licensed medical professional.

The fastest and preferred way to submit your immunization records is through the Online USF Health Promotion Services Immunization Form. You may also submit documents via postal mail, FAX, or in person.

Nursing Majors
Nursing Majors are required to submit additional health-related information necessary for their clinical work by completing the School of Nursing and Health Professions Health Requirement Form. Nursing Majors will be contacted by the School of Nursing and Health Professions through their myUSF e-mail addresses about this special requirement. Nursing Majors' immunization records should be submitted directly to the School of Nursing and Health Professions Dean's Office, and not to the Health Promotion Services Office.

Deadline For Students Living On Campus: Your Move-In Day. We therefore strongly recommend that you obtain all required immunizations before you arrive on campus. If you are unable to do so, you may be assisted to complete the Immunization Requirement through the USF Student Health Clinic (Dignity Health Medical Group) at nearby St. Mary’s Medical Center. Clinic representatives will be available on campus to provide required immunizations on both International Student Move-In Days: August 18 and 19 (See Step 14).

Deadline For Students Living Off Campus: September 1.

Please note: If you do not submit your USF Immunization Form by the relevant deadline, you may be charged a $100 Late Fee, and may have a Hold placed on your Spring 2016 course registration.

Step 10: Health Insurance

To help protect your health and wellness, all students are required to have health insurance. Please visit the Health Insurance web page to learn more about why.

USF-Sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan
All international students registered for at least one (1) course credit hour will be automatically enrolled in and charged for the USF-Sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan. You may read more about the Plan and what benefits it provides by visiting the Health Insurance for International Students web page.

Your U.S.-Based Health Insurance Plan
Students who already have a U.S.-Based Health Insurance Plan with coverage comparable to or better than the USF-Sponsored health insurance plan may choose to retain their current insurance plan. Should you wish to do so, you must request a Waiver of the Health Insurance Requirement by submitting the online Health Insurance Waiver Form for International Students. The Fall 2015 waiver period is from July 1 to September 1, 2015.

Deadline: September 1, 2015 at 5:00 PM. You may Waive the Requirement between July 1 and September 1, 2015 at 5:00 PM. If you do not waive this requirement, you will be automatically enrolled in and charged for the USF-Sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan.

Step 11: Take the Think About It Course

Think About It is a required online, science-based alcohol and drugs misuse and sexual violence prevention education program. This three-part course will help you to establish healthy personal relationships, to make wise choices in new or difficult situations, and to enjoy college life responsibly. All new Freshman and Transfer students must complete Part 1 of the course by 5:00 PM on September 1.

Take the Think About It Course
Once you have registered for classes, you will receive an invitation via e-mail with directions on how to access the course. The invitation to begin Part I will be sent in late July to your myUSF e-mail address only. In the meantime, please visit the Think About It web page to learn more about it.

Deadline: September 1, 5:00 PM. Students who do not successfully complete the Think About It course will be fined $100. Please remember that you must ultimately complete Parts I, II, and III of the course. You will not receive an invitation to progress to Part II of the course until Part I has been completed, and you will not receive an invitation to progress to Part III of the course until Part II has been completed. You will incur a $100 fine for every Part that remains incomplete by the Deadline: September 1, 2015 for Part I; February 1, 2016 for Part II; and September 1, 2016 for Part III.

Step 12: Your USF One Card

All USF students are issued a University Photo Identification (ID) Card called a USF One Card. Your USF One Card identifies you as a member of the USF community, and gives you access to many on-campus resources, including your residence hall, classroom buildings, Don Dollars (debit) accounts, Gleeson Library, Koret Health and Recreation Center, and more.

Pre-Order Your One Card
You are strongly encouraged to Pre-Order Your One Card, so that it will be available for pick-up when you arrive on campus.

Your Photograph
Find a recent color photograph of yourself, in which your entire head and shoulders are visible, and you are facing directly towards the camera. Save the photograph as a JPG or JPEG file.

Log into Online ID Express with your myUSF Username and Password.

Once in ID Express, visit the Photo Upload Page:

Submit Your Photograph file

You will receive an e-mail regarding the acceptance or rejection of the photo you submitted. You can also check the status of your photo by logging into the WebCard Center and clicking "View Your Pictures." If your photo is rejected, you will be asked to submit a new one.

Pick Up Your One Card
You may pick up your One Card at the One Card Office (Lone Mountain Main, Room 130) during or after International Student Orientation (See Step 15). You must present your passport, or other form of government-issued photo identification, in order to receive your One Card.

Deadline: To participate in ID Express, you must pre-order your One Card by August 11 — one week before the first International Student Move-In Day (August 18).

Please note that all international students are required to attend both International Student Orientation and New Student Orientation. These Orientation programs will prepare you to study and live at USF and in San Francisco, and will help you to meet new friends and begin to feel at home in the City.

Both programs offer opportunities to become acquainted with other students in social gatherings, and to explore San Francisco.

Step 17: Know Your Privacy Rights & Responsibilities

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.

Privacy of Records
Under federal law, a student’s records (including grades, GPA, class schedule, tuition and billing records, and more) cannot be disclosed to anyone else, even parents, without the student’s written authorization (some exceptions apply). Student Consent to Release Information Form
If you wish to allow someone else to view your education records, you must submit the Student Consent to Release Information Form authorizing access for each person to your USF academic or financial records. Visit the One Stop Student Consent to Release Information and Registration and Student Record Forms web pages to submit the Form.

If You Do Not Submit the Student Consent to Release Information Form
If you do not submit the Student Consent to Release Information Form to authorize your parents or others to have access to your records, USF will not disclose any information about you to them. This means, for example, that USF will not release information about your student account balance, even to someone who is helping you to pay your tuition.

Deadline: You should understand your privacy rights and responsibilities before you arrive on campus.
