As USF’s commitment to academic excellence include the conversion of all qualified spaces to active learning classrooms in increasing the availability of academic technologies and improving facilities to support outstanding educational programs.

Malloy Hall 129, located at the home of USF's School of Management undergraduate programs, was identified as a candidate for conversion into a Technology Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) classroom. TEAL classrooms provide AV breakout areas in the classroom, allowing students to connect personal devices to an LCD display via HDMI and AirPlay, and flexible furniture for easy reconfiguration of the learning space.

Upgrades to the classroom's network infrastructure are required to support additional AV equipment for this conversation, including data pulls and network jack installations.

Learning Spaces Engineering consults Bug ID, an AV design and integration firm based in San Francisco, on new AV installations. The scope of this conversion includes the addition of (4) AV breakout stations, each with an LCD display, HDMI and AirPlay support, and a feed to the classroom's main AV system.

USF's current standard of flexible (active learning) furniture is the Steelcase Node chair, a mobile unit with a built-in table for easy reconfiguration of the classroom. The base of the chair provides storage for personal belongings and has casters to allow for quick and fluid movement.

Learning Spaces Engineering partners with One Workplace, a Steelcase Authorized Dealer, for the acquisition of flexible furniture.
