This year-long book club, sponsored by the Joan and Ralph Lane Center for Catholic Social Thought & the Ignatian Tradition, is open to faculty and staff and will meet three times in the fall to discuss the question: How can people who care for racial and environmental justice anchor their call for change in deep spirituality? They will draw on Howard Thurman’s Meditations of the Heart and Martin Luther King Jr.’s Strength to Love. During the spring semester, the group will also meet three times to ponder: How do we frame the question of ecological justice from the perspective of the poor? They will draw on Pope Francis’s Querida Amazonia (Beloved Amazon). Joan and Ralph Lane Center's Graduate Fellow Barwende Sane, S.J., will facilitate the discussions.
