This panel will feature three leading researchers discussing their work on data, design and algorithmic justice from an intersectional and transnational perspective. Alex Hanna is Director of Research at the Distributed AI Research Institute (DAIR), where she works on data and new computational technologies and how these data exacerbate racial, gender, and class inequality. She also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Center for Applied Transgender Studies. Tamara Kneese is the Project Director of Data & Society Research Institute’s Algorithmic Impact (AIM) Lab at UC Berkeley’s Center for Science, Technology, Medicine & Society and a faculty member in the Master in Design for Responsible AI program at ELISAVA in Barcelona Spain. Xiaowei Wang is an artist, coder, writer of Blockchain Chicken Farm, and faculty member a faculty member in the Master in Design for Responsible AI program at ELISAVA in Barcelona Spain.
