Graduate Internships

Student Housing and Residential Education (SHaRE) offers eight Graduate Internships over the course of one academic year. In order to qualify, individuals must be accepted into a USF graduate program and maintain full-time student status while serving in this role.  Preference is given to graduate students enrolled in the Higher Education and Student Affairs Masters Program in the School of Education.  

Assistant Residence Directors (ARD) - 5 Positions

The Assistant Residence Director position is a 10-month, live-on role. The Assistant Residence Director assists in the supervision of the Resident Advisor (RA) staff, advises the residence hall council, creates and implements educational initiatives in the hall, and aids in establishing a healthy community environment. Assistant Residence Directors also serve in the duty rotation and are first-responders to crisis situations on campus.

Residential Desk Operations Interns - 3 Positions

The Residential Desk Operations Intern position is a 10-month, live-on role. The intern supervises the overall residence hall front desk operation for 2-3 residential communities of between 100-500 students. The intern works with a Central Staff supervisor and two other graduate interns on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive front desk operational and security program.  The intern supervises a student Community Office Manager at each of the desks for which they are responsible and indirectly supervises 40 – 60 Community Assistants. The intern is also a member of an on-call duty rotation to respond to after-hours desk and staffing issues.
