Step 5: Apply for Housing

First, be sure to visit the Student Housing website to learn about the benefits of living on campus and the different housing options. Check out the virtual tours for each residence hall room (click on each residence hall name to see the virtual tour).

You can also learn more about gender-inclusive housing options and see what's included in a dorm room.

On-Campus Housing Guarantee

First Year Students

You are guaranteed on-campus housing for your first four semesters as long as you submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit by May 1 and a completed housing application by May 10. Students who miss the housing application deadline will be placed on a waitlist and assigned space as it becomes available.

In some cases, you may not be eligible for guaranteed housing. Please review the Student Housing First Year/Transfer Students page for more information.

Transfer Students

You are guaranteed on-campus housing for your first two semesters as long as you submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit by June 1 (or within 2 weeks of your admission) and a completed housing application by June 9. Students who miss the housing application deadline will be placed on a waitlist and assigned space as it becomes available.

Apply for Housing

When you're ready to apply for housing, submit the fall housing application at USF Rooms. Meal plans are required for all students who live in a residence hall and will be automatically added to your student account. Room and roommate assignments will be released June 15.

Living Off Campus

If you wish to live off campus, or if you did not receive an on-campus housing assignment, we strongly recommend that you connect with our Off Campus Living team. They can help you with apartment listings, finding a roommate, talking with landlords, and everything else that will ease your transition to city life.

Dates & Deadlines 

May 10:  Deadline for first-year students to submit an application for guaranteed on-campus housing.  
June 9:  Deadline for transfer students to submit an application for guaranteed on-campus housing.
June 15:  Room and roommate assignments are released.
August 12:  Move-in day for domestic first-year students.
August 19:  Move-in day for domestic transfer students.
