Step 8: Register For Classes
This page will be updated by April 2021 with confirmed dates and links for class registration, Webtrack, and more. Please check back then and continue to monitor your email inbox.
Registration opens in early June (date TBD). Before you can register for classes, make sure you have completed all of the required items in Step 6. You should also check to see if there are any holds on your account which may prevent you from registering.
- Know which classes to take
Complete all required items in Step 6. You can also review the Core Curriculum requirements. They are required for all undergraduate students, regardless of your major. They cover six different academic disciplines for a total of 44 credits. For additional information on your specific major requirements, you can also reference the program page for your major.
- Search for classes
For detailed instructions, refer back to the Webtrack tutorial. You should register for at least 16 credit hours to stay on track for graduation.
- Meet with your faculty adviser
You will receive an email from your academic faculty advisor during the second week of June to invite you to select a mode of communication (phone, video meeting, or email) to review and discuss the classes you have registered for. It’s important for you to register for classes before your scheduled phone appointment with your faculty adviser. If necessary, they will recommend course adjustments during the appointment.
- Attend orientation for more help
During orientation (August 21–23), you will have the opportunity to meet with a faculty adviser during the "Orientation to Your Major" session. Your adviser will be happy to review your fall class schedule and to answer any questions. Don't forget to register for orientation!
- Buying textbooks
After you've registered for classes, you can view your book list by clicking on Registration and then "Buy Textbooks Online," which will show you which books are required for each of your courses. You can rent or buy your books online through the USF Bookstore (you can pick them up at the bookstore when you arrive), or through book rental sites like Chegg.com or Amazon.com.
Deadline: Registration begins in early June (exact date TBD). All incoming USF students will be registering during this time, so we encourage you to prepare and get ready to register during this time. Classes start on Tuesday, August 24. The last day to add a class is August 30.
