Welcome to USF. This tutorial will help guide you select your classes. You will be registering for either 4, 4-unit, and 1 or 2 1-unit courses for a total of 16-18 credits. Of these courses, it is MOST important that you register for: BIOL 113 Human Anatomy and BIOL 114 Laboratory in Human Anatomy. Human Anatomy is a 4-credit course, 3-credits for the lecture and 1-credit for the laboratory. You must take both the lecture and the laboratory at the same time as you cannot register for one without the other. When you register, you must register for the lecture and lab independently. If Human Anatomy is closed, you can register for Bio 115 Human Physiology and Bio 116 Laboratory in Human Physiology. Similar to Human Anatomy, Human Physiology is a 4-credit course, 3-credits for the lecture and 1-credit for the laboratory. Remember, you must take both the lecture and the laboratory at the same time as you cannot register for one without the other BUT you must register for each independently. When you register, you must register for the lecture and lab independently. The second course in the major you need to register for is KIN 120 Introduction to Kinesiology. For your other two courses, we strongly recommend that you register for a Rhetoric and Composition and a first-year or transfer year seminar. Taking a first year or transfer seminar is a great way to begin your experience at USF. You will have the opportunity to engage with other students in a special, unique course designed to connect students with USF, San Francisco, and a passionate faculty member in a small class setting. You will also earn core credit. All students need to complete their rhetoric and composition requirement at USF. Developing good written skills is absolutely essential to your success in all the classes. You should complete the Direct Self Placement course to determine which class to register for. For further information, please review the tutorial by clicking on the Tab Rhetoric and Composition. If you are not able to get into a first-year seminar, we encourage you to enroll in Public Speaking for Health Professions: Public Speaking/Health Profession - RHET 111 If the freshman seminars are all closed, which is our first recommendation and our second recommendation, public speaking for health professions is also closed, please register for another university core course. Additionally, all Kinesiology students should take a 1-credit Physical Activity Class. You will need to take at least four of these 1-credit courses while here at USF. There are several options that include KIN 100 courses in the following areas: fitness and wellness, team and individual sport. Once you have selected your courses, your schedule should resemble something like this: Example I BIO 113 Human Anatomy BIOL 114 Human Anatomy Lab KIN 120 Introduction to Kinesiology RHET 110 Written Communication First-year or transfer seminar KIN 100 Example II Bio 115 Human Physiology Bio 116 Human Physiology Lab KIN 120 Introduction to Kinesiology First-year or transfer seminar RHET 110 Written Communication KIN 100 Example III BIO 113 Human Anatomy BIOL 114 Human Anatomy Lab KIN 120 Introduction to Kinesiology RHET 111 Public Speaking and Health Professions RHET 110 Written Communication KIN 100 Example IV Bio 115 Human Physiology Bio 116 Human Physiology Lab KIN 120 Introduction to Kinesiology Core Course RHET 110 Written Communication KIN 100 If you are a transfer student, you may have completed some of these university core courses. It is important for you to review your degree evaluation to determine which courses you need to complete. If you have any questions, please contact your summer Kinesiology Advisor. Spend some time navigating the Schedule of courses to familiarize yourself with the layout of the website. Look for courses that you would like to register for, including specific sections.
