Hi there. In this video, we are going to take a minute or two to go over how to request accommodations online through the Student Disability Services Online Services portal. Let's first talk about how to get to our database. The easiest way to do this is to go to the SDS homepage, which is, usfca.edu/sds. Once you are at our website, scroll down and click on the blue box that reads SDS Online Services. You will then be prompted to enter your MyUSF login information since our database login is synced with your USF login information. If this is the first time you have logged in this semester, you will be prompted to sign our official accommodation agreement / FERPA acknowledgment. Sign that by typing your name in the box below. After you sign the accommodation agreement, it should bring you to the dashboard where your courses will be listed. For the purposes of this demonstration, I'm going to do this for one fiction course, but of course when you do this, you can select all of your courses in which you would like to request accommodations and submit them all at the same time. So as you see, the name of the course appears, along with the CRN, the instructor, and the days and times of the course. Double check that all this information seems right. Underneath, are your listed accommodations that you have determined with your specialist. Selecting which accommodations, you choose down here, does two things. For those accommodations like E-Text or peer notetaking assistance, it alerts our staff that you are requesting the accommodation, so they can begin implementing the accommodation for this course. It also determines what accommodations will be listed in your Faculty Notification Letter, that goes to your professors. You can customize each course you are in so that your Faculty Notification Letter only reads the accommodations you specifically need for that course. For example, if you know you don't have any examinations in a course, but you still want to request E-Text, you do not have to click your "Alternative Testing" accommodation. It's actually most efficient to only request those accommodations you plan to use. Once you hit submit, this will alert your specialist that you have requested your accommodations and they will email your notification letters to your faculty on your behalf. You will know your accommodations have been approved when the blue processing question mark has changed to a green checkmark.
