Whether you're a prospective student or a current student, or starting your college search process, welcome to our website. Hi, my name is Tom Merrell and I am the Director of Student Disability Services at the University of San Francisco. We call ourselves SDS. I am going to briefly tell you a little about who we are. Whenever I talk with people, there are two important components of our mission that I like to share. First, we recognize disability as a valued aspect of diversity. Second, we work to facilitate equal access and an inclusive environment. We believe in our students intrinsic strengths and abilities and we work to support them in pursuit of their academic goals. This is the framework we work in. We have heard over and over again that students feel very comfortable coming into our office. We work very hard to create an environment of what I like to call Intentional Informality, which is really just making it not a big deal to ask for services. When students come to us we make no assumptions about who they are or what they can, and cannot do. Accessing our services is an easy 3-step process. Step 1 is filling out an application. Step 2 is meeting with your specialist. And Step 3 is putting your accommodations in place. Once you register with SDS we will be with you throughout your academic journey. Please take a moment to check out our website and feel free to contact us if you have any specific questions. Our contact information is below. Again, welcome to USF.
