Student Employment: Form I-9 Verification
Form I-9 Requirements
Federal law requires that employers in the U.S. complete the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, for each employee. Form I-9 will verify the employee's identity and employment authorization.
Newly hired and rehired student workers will complete Section 1 of Form I-9 during their USFWorks onboarding process. New hires will then present in person to a Student Employment Representative their original (hard copy) supporting documents to satisfy requirements of the form's Section 2; returning student employees (rehires) will contact the Office of Student Employment to confirm whether the Form I-9 on file with the office is valid.
For official Form I-9 instructions, see the USCIS I-9 webpage.
For all I-9 verifications, remember to bring your original supporting documents with you to your meeting. Digital copies or images will not be accepted.
