Each semester the Learning Center hires tutors to work with students at USF and in the city of San Francisco.
On-Campus Peer Tutors
All peer tutors are full-time USF students who have completed at least a semester of study at USF. Tutors are those students who show dedication to their academics and maintain a Cumulative and Semester GPA of 3.0 or higher. To tutor for a specific course the applicant should have taken the course at USF, received an A- or above, and can produce a USF faculty letter of recommendation. All tutors are required to participate in ongoing tutor training during their time as an LWC peer tutor. To apply, fill out an application online. Students interested in tutoring in the languages should complete an application with the Department of Modern and Classical Languages.

Off-Campus Community Tutors
The Learning & Writing Center is hires graduate students for its Project Success program at the start of every semester. The Project Success program matches graduates with undergraduate students who are in want of additional and continued academic support during the school year. Coaches work specifically with students on goal setting and time management, and the improvement of academic skills. Applicants must be current, full-time USF graduate students who are organized, possess a working knowledge of Student Development Theory and Adult Learning Theory, and have experience working with students at the college level.
