The Learning, Writing, and Speaking Centers

The University of San Francisco offers academic assistance to all students through The Learning Center, The Writing Center, and The Speaking Center. Services are available at no additional cost to USF students, including subject-specific tutoring, writing assistance, and communications-related support. The Learning Center also provides opportunities for academic skill development through one-on-one academic skills coaching, group workshops, and online resources.

The LWSC staff can be reached in person at Gleeson Library lower level, Room G03; via email at LWSC@usfca.edu; through the chat box on our web pages; or via phone at (415) 422-6713. We also respond promptly to voicemails left on our main line at (415) 422-6713.

Summer 2025 Updates

The Learning, Writing, and Speaking Centers (LWSC) will have limited support during the Summer sessions. Please review the following schedule and updates:

Writing Center (via Zoom)

Writing Center Consultants will be available to meet with students on the following days and times:

Mondays & Wednesdays: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Tuesdays & Thursdays: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Learning Center (via Zoom)

Starting Wednesday, May 21, the Learning Center will provide limited services to support students enrolled in select courses, as well as academic skills coaching.

Subject tutoring is available for select courses; please visit our Supported Courses List.
Academic skills coaching can be scheduled online through StudentHub; please follow this guide to schedule an appointment.

Speaking Center

The Speaking Center will be closed for the Summer.

Fall 2025 Updates

In Fall 2025, the Learning, Writing, and Speaking Centers will continue their services, with both in-person and virtual availability for students.
Full services will resume on Monday, August 25, 2025.
