USF Dance Ensemble

The USF Dance Ensemble is comprised of students who perform original dance works each semester in the USF Dance Ensemble Concerts.

Fall Semester

Choreographers for the fall concert are guest choreographers from the Bay Area who are aligned with the Performing Arts and Social Justice mission. Past guests have included nationally recognized artists such as AXIS Dance Company, Sean Dorsey, Erika Schuch, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Tandy Beal, Jo Kreiter, Randee Paufve, Christian Burns, Maxine Moerman, Catherine Galasso, Laura Arrington, Chris Black, Nol Simonse, Scott Wells, Nicole Klaymoon, Fog Beast, Alex Ketley and Monique Jenkinson/Fauxnique. This concert is performed in the Studio Theater on Lone Mountain.

Spring Semester

In the spring we work with choreographers who are on faculty in the Dance program. These pieces showcase a variety of dance styles including ballet, modern, hip hop, West African, and more! This concert is performed in the Presentation Theater.

Auditions

Participation is by audition at the beginning of each semester. If chosen to be in a piece, students can receive credit through Workshop in Dance Production (DANC 480-01). Students in the USF Dance Ensemble can receive up to 4 units for their participation in weekly rehearsals and concert production week.
