Join us for a conversation between Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander and artist Brian Singer as they discuss the artworks in What the world needs now is... and the artists’ and museums’ roles in exploring history, politics, and identity.

Brian Singer
Brian Singer, also known as someguy, is a San Francisco based fine artist whose projects have received international attention. The 1000 Journals Project, launched in 2000, was turned into a book, a feature length documentary, and has been exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. His exhibition, What the world needs now is…Brian Singer at the Thacher Gallery, is on view at the University of San Francisco through Nov. 9, 2025.

Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander
As the Robert M. and Ruth L. Halperin Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art and Co Founder and Co-Director, Asian American Art Initiative (AAAI), Aleesa Pitchamarn Alexander oversees the collection of modern and contemporary art at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. Alexander leads the AAAI’s curatorial program and collection building, working with artists, artist estates, galleries, and collectors.
