The Center for Asia Pacific Studies is delighted to welcome Tomoko “Hoyu” Lee to campus for a hands-on workshop on Ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging.
In the first half of the session, you’ll be introduced to the design principles behind this traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. In the second half, you’ll put these principles into practice by creating your own arrangement and receiving personalized feedback from the instructor.
What to Bring:
- Scissors (gardening pruners or kitchen scissors are fine)
- A tall vase (a large Mason jar works too)
- All floral materials will be provided
Tomoko “Hoyu” Lee is an avid organic gardener turned floral designer who shares her unique aesthetic through the Japanese art of Ikebana. She has studied Ikebana for over fifteen years and holds a teaching credential from the Sogetsu School. Her design philosophy centers on seasonality and sustainability.
