A smiling woman with dark brown hair and bangs, wearing an olive green utility jacket, sits on a weathered wooden bench and holds a white and tan beagle in her lap. The dog looks toward the camera with soft brown eyes.

Join us for a discussion between journalist Melanie D.G. Kaplan and USF law professor Matthew Liebman about Melanie’s new book Lab Dog: A Beagle and His Human Investigate the Surprising World of Animal Research. When Melanie adopted a beagle named Hammy, she never expected he would lead her on an investigation into the world of animal research. In Lab Dog, she traces her dog’s mysterious past and explores the complex world of laboratory animals.
