Thursday, April 23 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Gleeson Library — 239 - Conference Room
Please join Gleeson Library in partnership with the Golden Gate fREADom Writers for this special screening of "The Librarians" on "Take Action for Libraries Day", part of National Library Week programming.
"When lawmakers seek to review a list of books, librarians find themselves on the frontlines of a national battle. Across the U.S., librarians face the impact of uniting against library collection standards that include restrictions on race-related and LGBTQIA+ content. Drawing on historical context, The Librarians, directed by Kim A. Snyder, explores the broader implications for education and public life."
The screening will be followed by refreshments and a Q& A with USF Faculty Emeritus, Kathryn Nasstrom and and Outreach Librarian, Chanda Briggs.
Golden Gate fREADom Writers is an Indivisible group in the Bay Area focused on forms of peaceful resistance using the written word and taking special interest in action around protecting the freedom of expression.
This event is open to all USF community members as well as members of the public.
