The USF Center for Asia Pacific Studies is delighted to host Jeanie Y. Chang, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and author of How K-Dramas Can Transform Your Life: Powerful Lessons on Belongingness, Healing, and Mental Health, for a virtual fireside chat with our director, Dr. Wei Menkus. Together, they will explore the mental health benefits of Korean dramas and their profound impact on emotional well-being. 

In this conversation, Chang will delve into how beloved K-dramas go beyond entertainment, offering inspiration, life lessons, and a deeper connection to human emotions. Through captivating storytelling and cultural insights, she will discuss their influence on how we understand love, identity, and resilience. Whether you’re a devoted fan or just discovering this global phenomenon, this talk will shed new light on the transformative power of storytelling.

Jeanie Chang is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with specialized training in grief, trauma, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). A TEDx speaker and internationally recognized educator, she delivers keynotes and workshops for corporations, community organizations, and colleges on the intersection of mental health and identity, K-dramas and identity, DEIB and psychological safety. She addresses topics such as burnout, resilience, mindfulness, and stress management. Chang also serves as a subject matter expert on mental health for media outlets around the world.

Chang is the Founder and CEO of Noona’s Noonchi®, LLC, a global wellness company born from her social media influence as Noona’s Noonchi, where she explores K-dramas through a mental health lens. Her book with Wiley Publishing titled, How K-Dramas Can Transform Your Life: Powerful Lessons on Belongingness, Healing, and Mental Health, was released with a strong global response in May, 2024.

She is also the Founder and CEO of Your Change Provider, PLLC®, a clinical practice built on solutions and her trademarked Cultural Confidence® framework. Jeanie has presented her curriculum to major corporations, including Google, J.Crew, Microsoft, Mondelez International, and the NFL, as well as non-profits such as the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), the Council of Korean Americans (CKA), the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE), and the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP).
