The rapid development and growing use of AI impel us to rethink how and what we teach students, including our assignments and student assessment. This presentation sets up the imperative for a “great re-imagining” in education. We will explore ways to adopt AI mindfully in view of pedagogical opportunities and concerns, particularly the potential impact of AI on critical thinking and creativity.
In this Teaching Cafe session we present practical steps for re-imagining course assignments with a clear-eyed, discerning view. We will learn from each other as we discuss AI successes, cautions, and challenges and will co-create or co-refine a set of questions to guide mindful adoption.
