Transgender and gender non-conforming people are at high risk for harassment and aggression from others, whether it be from students, faculty, or staff. Where our campus has taken steps forward with gender-inclusive housing and all-gender bathrooms, there is always the opportunity to continue to improve. In this session, presenters will discuss gender sensitivity, such as terminology and pronoun usage, as well as address how to approach gender-related issues in both personal and professional spaces. Presenters will also be answering relevant questions and facilitating conversation from audience members to bring dialogue about transgender and gender non-conforming students to a more personal standpoint.

The Entrepreneurs Club presents an interactive workshop on the belief that everyone is creative and able to execute innovative solutions through the human-centered design thinking process from IDEO, the consulting company that created Apple's first computer mouse. A human-centered design approach can apply in our everyday lives, professions, and club programming to build more empathetic solutions for our end users using qualitative goals of happiness, inclusion, and ethical consciousness.

What's A Gender? Exploring Gender Identity and Becoming a Gender Ally

What does it mean to be female? Male? Transgender? This workshop will explore the social origins of gender as well as the ways that we police gender within ourselves and with other people. Additionally, participants will examine how policing gender produces toxic masculinity/femininity and (mis)conceptions about gender and sexuality.
