Discover and Develop Your Communication Skills#1: Discovering Your Communication Style

Wednesday, September 11 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

McLaren Complex — 251

Effective communication is important. By delivering messages clearly, there is less room for misunderstanding or alteration of messages, which decreases the potential for conflict. In situations where conflict arises, effective communication is a key factor to ensure that the situation is resolved respectfully.

Join us for the first of three building effective communication workshops.  In this workshop #1, we explore your personal communication needs, talents, goals and struggles, creating an open and supportive environment for you to loosen up and develop your talents! Be prepared to stand up, move, meet your peers and deliver short oral exercises. You’ll also choose a unique topic to explore and develop for the workshop.

This is part 1 of 3 communication skills series. In all 3, you will Discover your communication style, Develop your unique presentation, and Share your presentation. Led by Patrick McDonnell (Professor of Rhetoric and Language), and Ken Yoshioka (Senior Instructional Technologist, ITT), and Suzy Kisylia (GoUSF). It’s highly encouraged and would be most beneficial if you are able to attend all 3 workshops. They build on each other.
