Welcome to the USF Policy Lab

San Francisco is a world class city with a small town energy, rooted in community. At the University of San Francisco Policy Lab, we work to connect USF students and faculty with the greater San Francisco area through policy analysis and problem solving. Our work is grounded in data and evidence as we seek to positively impact the San Francisco community. Housed at a Jesuit university, the USFPL is driven by passion to support community, justice, and equity.

Driven to support our city: San Francisco

The city of San Francisco and Bay Area communities have no shortage of policy challenges. As policy makers grapple with these problems, sometimes a deep dive into a policy question is a luxury that a public agency cannot afford. What could be lost is any attempt to marshal data to define the problem, identify possible alternatives, and assess the critical tradeoffs involved.

The USF Policy Lab seeks to fill this void. The Lab produces analytical products in partnership with local governments in the Bay Area. We build upon the University of San Francisco's decades of engagement with the city and county and other governments in the region.
