Thursday, October 9 11:15 AM - 1:15 PM
McLaren Complex — 250

Open to all faculty, staff, and librarians
This workshop will develop faculty understanding of the role of writing assessment, assignment building, and the complications that come with generative AI technologies. In a two-hour workshop, Dr. Missy Watson (CCUNY) and Dr. Nicole Gonzales Howell (USF) will address how language attitudes impact classroom practices, grading and assessment, as well as how to engage with students and their expectations for writing and speaking skills. Understanding the intersections of language attitudes, implicit bias, and the “hidden” curriculum, Watson and Howell will build on their years of research and practice by sharing the theoretical framework for their work while also providing tangible resources for faculty to implement after the workshop.
