Ballots can be overwhelming and confusing, but understanding what you are voting on does not have to be. Join us for Snack & Learn: How to Read Your Ballot, an interactive Voter Education Week event, sponsored by USFVotes, designed to help students feel more comfortable navigating this election season.
During this workshop, students will learn how to identify and understand key parts of a ballot, including candidate statements, propositions, voter guides, endorsements, and ballot language. We want to empower students to know how and where to research information for this upcoming election. Rather than focusing on what students should vote for, this event will focus on how to find, interpret, and evaluate the information available to them so they can make their own informed decisions.
Participants will work through a sample ballot measure and practice breaking down complicated language into information that is easier to understand. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about resources they can use when reviewing their own ballots.
