Three Words: Vibrant, Adventurous, Passionate

Why USF:

I chose it because I wanted to be somewhat close to home and wanted to go to a private institution after attending public school for the past 12 years. Also, I knew that the diversity as well as amount of exciting opportunities in every aspect imaginable available in this city would provide me with a once in a lifetime opportunity and priceless college experience.

USF Involvement:

  • Fromm RHC
  • Kappa Alpha Theta
  • CAB Exec Board - Talent Director 2012-2013

Benefits of Involvement:

I have met so many amazing people who I continue to learn from on a daily basis and have reinforced my passion for being involved and helping others. I feel as if the experiences I have gotten from this first year of college alone already provide me with enough material to confidently help others and so if that's what I'm feeling after just 1 year of college, I am so excited to see what the next few years will bring.

Leadership:

Leadership is when one steps up to the plate and isn't afraid to take the bull by its horns.  In being a leader, you have to be flexible and adapt to pretty much any situation all the while still standing your ground.  USF provides an equal playing field for all students.  It gives us all ample opportunities to get involved and be active members of our immediate campus community as well as the city and world around us.  The lessons and skills we learn here go everywhere from self-respect/respect for others and compassion to accountability and dedication.  No matter how big or small, there isn't a single skill learned from one's USF experience that couldn't contribute to Changing the World from Here.

Advice to First Year Students:

Just dive right in. While having such a vast pool of choices can get overwhelming sometimes, it also means that you really can't go wrong by just giving something a try. Most importantly, never hesitate to ask questions because that's what we're all here for!  Also, don't be afraid of trying more than one thing.  If it doesn't work out in the end it's not the end of the world and at the end of the day, it's just one more experience/lesson to put on your list of accomplishments.

Favorite Place in City: It is actually really difficult to answer this just because I identify with each spot in the city in a different way. They all bring up different memories and sentiments but if I had to pick one, I would have to say that the general area of the Piers/Wharf/Ghirardelli Square is my favorite area. Touristy or not, you can't really have a bad time there and my single most favorite thing about this city is being able to take the cable cars to get there. (Best thing: You can take cable cars during the day or night!

Random Fact: I used to be in a screamo band.
