Staying safe

Staying safe this holiday weekend

Dear Members of the USF Community,

The daily news accounts chronicling recent spikes in COVID-19 cases and the increase in hospitalizations around the country (including California) are, of course, very concerning to all of us.

As I write, USF teams are engaged in intensive work with the San Francisco Department of Public Health about our plans and protocols, and we are actively monitoring new restrictions and reports from the city, county, and state. We will continue to communicate with you as information becomes available and we finalize our fall semester plans.

The health and safety of all members of our community – students, faculty, and staff – continues to be our highest priority. In campus operations, we will adhere to all guidance and mandates that come from public health officials over the course of the coming days and weeks.

Going into this holiday weekend, I trust all of you will stay safe and protect your health: practice social distancing, wear a face covering, and wash your hands frequently. Most of us are still working remotely, and faculty and staff are continuing to prepare for the safe and secure opening of the fall semester. Without a doubt, it will be a very different fall semester for all of us. Yet even with social distancing and the remote options for work and classes, the USF community and our learning environment will be as vital and supportive as ever.

Please stay safe as you enjoy the holiday weekend. All of you – including each of our incoming students – are highly valued and important members of our community. Thank you for being a part of the University of San Francisco.
