Get ready to compete!
For the eighth year in a row, students will be competing with faculty and staff to see who is more active in October. At the end of the month, all minutes will be accumulated and the winner will receive the Cartwright Cup named after Bill Cartwright, USF alumnus, NBA star, and USF ambassador. Tracking starts on Oct. 1, so you can enter your physical activity minutes at any time throughout the month, including retroactively.
How to play:
1. Register for the Go Dons Get Fit Challenge.
2. Bookmark the Log Workout tab and track your physical activity minutes daily, weekly, or whenever is convenient.
3. Consider creating a team of up to six people for extra motivation.
4. For fun, post your active photos on Instagram using the Go Dons Get Fit gif and tag #gousfca (fac/staff) and/or #usfhps (students)!
Why participate in the challenge?
Motivation: Regular check-ins and group activities help to keep you motivated. Showing up is half the battle.
Support: Everyone starts and finishes together. Having others share your successes and failures helps to keep everyone progressing together.
Expertise: Workout ideas will be shared throughout the month, whether it’s Koret’s classes or inspirational suggestions from GoUSF and Health Promotion Services.
Camaraderie: Participating in the challenge ties you to something bigger than yourself. Consider creating a team of two-six players to encourage each other to push a little harder to earn those minutes. You’re working toward a common goal and have the opportunity to bond with team members and see what we can achieve as a university community
FUN!: Being part of a challenge creates a certain level of excitement that is contagious. If you can have fun while working towards your goals, you are far more likely to be consistent. Consistency produces results.
