Online — Zoom
Learn about the One Earth Initiative’s action plan, including USF’s cross-cutting initiatives to incorporate sustainability and justice into all aspects of the University. Steering co-chairs Erin Brigham (Dir., Lane Center) and Alice Kaswan (Prof. of Law), will review the action plan, which fulfills the university’s commitment to develop a plan that helps further the goals of Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment and society, Laudato si’: On Care for Our Common Home. Erin and Alice will highlight efforts to integrate justice and sustainability into the student experience and the university’s cultural life, efforts to update and expand sustainable infrastructure, and mechanisms to bolster institutional support for all of these efforts.
Every week, we will host featured speakers and events to help us learn more about environmental justice issues in our own community. We hope these opportunities will offer a solid foundation for you to begin viewing ecological issues through an environmental justice lens and inspire you to keep exploring the intersections in your future environmental advocacy.
"Because all creatures are connected, each must be cherished with love and respect, for all of us as living creatures are dependent on one another." (Laudato Si, Paragraph 42)
The Environmental Justice committee includes: Suzy Kisylia (Human Resources), Jenny Lee (HPS), Richard Hsu (Office of Sustainability), Naa Deedei-Vera Hammond (grad student)
