Ignatian Year
As a Jesuit university, we are invited to join the international Society of Jesus in celebrating the Ignatian Year. This period of reflection begins on May 20, 2021, 500 years after St. Ignatius of Loyola was struck by a cannonball, an event which moved him to articulate the dynamics of discernment and the liberating insight that God can be discovered in all things. The commemorative year will conclude on the feast of St. Ignatius, July 31, 2022.
In 1855, Ignatian values took root in San Francisco with the founding of St. Ignatius Academy, the antecedent of the University of San Francisco.
