Fellowship Spotlights
The Fulbright U.S. The Student Program offers over 2,000 funded opportunities in 140+ countries to study, research, or teach English abroad while promoting cross-cultural interaction and mutual understanding. All fields are welcome to apply, although specific grant opportunities have field restrictions or specific preferences, which vary based on the grants.
Who can apply?
- Opportunities for seniors, post-grads, and graduate students.
- You must be a citizen or national of the United States of America. If you are not a U.S. citizen, explore your country of citizenship's Fulbright opportunities -- most countries have commissions.
- Applicants must have a conferred bachelor's degree or equivalent before the start of the grant period.
- Applicants must meet the language requirements of the award to which they are applying and demonstrate the skills necessary to complete their project and adjust to life in the host country.
Application Process
The Fulbright U.S. The student program application cycle generally opens in April and closes in early October. If you are interested in applying, please reach out to the Campus Fulbright Ambassador Sharon Li. Since the process involves campus endorsement, there is a campus-wide deadline, usually a month before the national deadline.
Applications are open for the 2027-2028 cycle. USF's Campus Fulbright Deadline is on September 7th, 2026, and the national deadline is October 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) offers immersive summer programs for students to learn languages of strategic importance to the national and economic security of the U.S. Participants complete one-year of language study in an 8-week intensive course focused on cultural immersion and language instruction. CLS has hosted more than 10,000 participants from across the U.S. Upon completion of the program, scholars gain access to a global network, which includes year-round activities and special engagement opportunities.
Who can apply?
- Undergraduate and Graduate students
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or national
- You must have completed your first-year of university by the program start date
- If there are language requirements for the language you are interested in, you must meet those requirements.
Application Process
The application cycle opens in August and generally closes in November. The Summer 2026 cycle is closed, so check back in around June to find information on the 2027 cycle. The application includes essays and does not require a reference.
The Capital Fellows Program is a unique opportunity to participate in policy development at the California Capitol for post-grad students interested in government and public policy. Programs include the Executive, Senate, and Assembly Fellowship programs. All fellows are part of a cohort where they are placed in different areas of state government, and participate in team building, professional development, and community engagement activities throughout the year-long fellowship.
Who can apply?
- Must be at least 20 by the start of the fellowship
- Have a bachelor's degree by the start of the fellowship
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher in the last semester or quarter
- Demonstrate interest in state government and public policy
- Have U.S work authorization for the duration of the fellowship program
Application Process
Applications require a recommendation, a resume, and two essays. Applications open early Fall and close in early December. Check back in Fall 2026 for the 2027-2028 application cycle.
The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are month-long programs for US students who have little to no international travel experience. Participants get the opportunity to learn about UK culture and UK university life. Students apply to specific higher education programs of their discipline or interest and get to study with leading professors, gain cultural experience, receive transferable credit, and practice multi-cultural exchange.
Who can apply?
- Be as US citizen with a US passport
- Have had no or very little experience outside of North America
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.6
- Have at least two years of undergraduate study remaining after the Institute finishes
- Not participate in any other study abroad programs during the Summer of 2026.
Application process
Applications for Summer 2026 are closed. They usually open in November and close in February. For Summer 2027, check back in Fall 2026. Application materials include a personal statement, a letter of recommendation, and your transcript.
The Getty Post-Bacc Conservation Fellowship is an opportunity for recently graduated students looking to gain hands on experience in art conservation. The program aims to increase the number of students from underprepresented backgrounds to attend graduate school in museum conservation. This is a 12-Month paid opportunity that also offers professional development.
Eligibility
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent resident
- Show commitment to museum conservation and desire to continue to graduate studies
- Have previous experience in conservation
Application Process
The 2027 application cycle opens in August of 2026. Required application materials include a resume, personal statement, one letter of reccomendation, and transcripts.
Teach for America Ignite Fellowship is a semester-long Fellowship for those interested in teaching and working to improve belonging and learning for K-12 students. Gain experience during college through this part-time paid fellowship that can be renewed.
Who can apply?
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens
- Must complete a background check
- Be a currently enrolled undergrad or grad student.
Application Process
The program has different deadline dates. Applications for a Spring start are due in the Fall. If you are applying for the Fall, the applications open in the Spring and are due in April. The application requires uploading your resume, answering short essay questions, and uploading two videos that follow the application prompt.
The Truman Foundation identifies aspiring leaders when they are college juniors and recognizes and rewards their commitments to careers in public service. Awardees receive up to $30,000 for their studies, as well as access to extensive leadership development programs, mentoring, and assistance with federal government hiring.
Who can apply?
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be currently enrolled at a US-based university and are in their second to last year of university if graduating in four years or in their final year if they are graduating in three years or less
- Students must be nominated by their current or former institution
- Must be planning to attend graduate school in pursuit of a career in public service.
Application Process
The Truman fellowship requires campus nomination, and applications must be started at least three months prior to the deadline. Professor David Donahue advises students on Truman; you can find his information on our homepage. The cycle opens in the Fall, and applications are due in February of each year. The applications for 2027 are not open yet, so check back in the summer.
Boren Awards are scholarships and fellowships for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students committed to long-term overseas study and to public service. Boren awardees receive funding to study the languages most critical to the nation's security.
The Boren Fellowship is for graduate students or students who are applying to graduate programs, and the Boren Scholarship is for undergraduates who are planning to study abroad.
Who can apply?
- U.S citizens who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in the US
- Must be planning to study somewhere outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
Application Process
The Boren Awards require specific guidelines for the Fellow and Scholarship tracks, and campus review is also required. The Boren cycle usually opens in late August or early September and has deadlines in January. The application will open in Fall 2026.
The Science Ambassador Scholarship by Cards Against Humanity is a $20,000 scholarship for undergraduate students who are studying in the fields of STEM. They value applicants who are passionate about the topics they are studying.
Who can apply?
- Be an undergraduate student who is not graduating earlier than 2027 at a US University
- It is NOT required that you have a U.S. passport or citizenship)
Application Process
Applications require a 3-minute video on a STEM topic of your choice. The second round of applications will require more materials if selected to move to the next round. Applications will open in the Fall of 2027 and close in December.
The Coro Fellows program is a national fellowship that focuses on equipping emerging civil leaders with opportunities that transform fellows personally and professionally. The programs run in New York, Southern California, Northern California, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis, and have been cultivating a community of civil leadership for over 75 years, connecting fellows with a network of 15,000 alumni, propelling them to achieve their goals and make an impact in their communities.

- Open to anyone with a Bachelor's degree
- Candidates within 1-3 years of post-college work are strongly encouraged to apply
Application Process
Applications typically open in August and close in January of the following year. The online application requires a resume, two letters of recommendation, two essays, and a one-minute video testimonial.
The Goldwater Scholarship, named after Senator Barry Goldwater, is a scholarship opportunity for college sophomores and juniors who are interested in pursuing research careers in natural sciences, math, and engineering.
Who can apply?
- Be a college sophomore or junior
- Have a GPA greater than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be a US citizen or a permanent resident
Application process
Applications open in early September, and institutional nominations have to be submitted by January. Check back in soon for more information on the 2027-2028 application cycle. Students must be nominated by the University to apply. If interested, please fill out the university endorsement form. Application components include a research essay, recommendations, and a campus endorsement.
The Voyager Scholarship Program was created in conjunction with the Obama Foundation and the co-founder of Airbnb, and is currently accepting applications. It is a two-year leadership development and scholarship program, aiming to equip the next generation of public leaders through financial aid, immersive work experience, and travel stipends lasting 10 years.
Who can apply?
- Be a second-year college student
- Demonstrate financial need
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Be a U.S citizen, national, or permanent resident, or have received DACA
Application process
The scholarship applications usually open in January and close in April. The 2026 application cycle is closed. Check back in January 2027. The application focuses on academic service, work, and public service experiences, access to other leadership development programs, a video answer submission, and an essay submission.
The English Teaching Flagship award in Taiwan is an 11-month English teaching opportunity for those who are willing and have experience teaching English. They are currently accepting applications. As a grantee, you get to work with Taiwanese teachers, creating an English environment in elementary to high school classes. This program offers a monthly stipend, professional development programs, health insurance, settling-in allowance, and one month of free housing.

- Have a Bachelor's degree by the start of the grant
- Must meet one of the following Teaching experience requirements:

The Library of Congress has several internship and fellowship opportunities that fit a wide variety of interests from Museum studies, to artifact research.

Amgen is a biotech company that hosts an Undergraduate Summer Research Program in Science and Biotechnology, where every summer students conduct research at leading US institutions like Stanford, John’s Hopkins, UCSF, and Yale. Undergraduates work with top faculty on a research project, attend group-based seminars and networking events, and attend a symposium in their region to network, learn about biotechnology, and hear from leading scientists.
Who can apply?
- U.S. Citizen of permanent resident
- Undergrad student enrolled in 4-year program at U.S. institution
- Open to Sophmores, Juniors, or non-graduating Seniors
- Must have GPA of 3.2 or above
- Must have an interest in pursuing a PH.D or M.D/Ph.D

Applicants apply to the institutional program they are interested in, and the deadline for the program has passed. For Summer 2027, check back in January 2027.
The Asia Pacific Scholarship Programs are a set of scholarships available to graduate and undergraduate students. There are a couple of options that have specific eligibility requirements.

Application Process
Most of the scholarships include an online application, essay responses, a resume, and recommendations. The 2026 cycle is closed. The 2027-2028 cycle will open in early 2027.
The Montana Conservation Corps offers internships and fellowships for college students and recent graduates. This program offers 5-Month paid fellowships and 3-Month internships in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and the Dakotas. This program is a great way to gain hands-on experience in conservation, where the service is centered around completing natural resources-related projects within the host site community.
Who can apply?
- U.S. Citizenship
- Have a car and a license
- Ability to hike 3-12 miles daily in rugged terrain with a 45lb backpack, lift 35+ pounds, and work in all weather conditions.
Application Process
The applications usually open in January, and the recruitment process begins in the Spring. The 2026-2027 cycle is now closed. Check back in December 2026 for updates on the 2027-2028 cycle.
The Google Public Policy Fellowship is an opportunity for students at all levels to engage in organizations that are shaping the future of technology and public policy across the world. For the U.S. program, there are part-time and full-time roles that all include stipends.
Eligibility
- For students currently enrolled in an accredited University
- Must have work authorization in the U.S.
Application Process
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are usually due in April. The 2026 competition is closed, so check back in Spring of 2027 for placement in Summer of 2027. The process includes naming 3 references, placement preferences, and a personal statement.
