Undergraduate Readmission Policy

 
Purpose

This policy applies to undergraduate students seeking readmission to the University of San Francisco (USF) to complete their degree program.

 
Policy

Students who were previously enrolled in a degree-seeking program at USF and who were withdrawn (officially or unofficially) or were academically disqualified must apply for readmission if they wish to return.

Students wishing to be readmitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program must have been previously enrolled in the BSN program.

All financial holds must be cleared before the readmission application is processed. Students with financial holds for outstanding payments should contact the Office of Student Accounts at usf_balance@usfca.edu to determine the balance due.

If courses were taken at other institutions during the period of absence from USF, official transcripts from each college or university attended will be required for readmission consideration. Acceptance of any transfer credit will be determined by the academic dean in accordance with USF’s residency requirement.

 
Readmission for Students in Good Standing

Students who are in good standing may apply for readmission to USF. Applications for readmission are reviewed by the Office of Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities and the academic dean of the respective school or college.

 
Readmission for Students Who Were on Probation

 
College of Arts & Sciences and School of Management Programs

Students who were on academic probation may apply for readmission to USF. Applications for readmission are reviewed by the Office of Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities and the academic dean of the respective school or college.

Readmitted students will be placed on academic probation and enrolled in the Back on Track Support Program with CASA.

 
Bachelor of Science in Public Health Program

Students who were on academic probation may apply for readmission to USF. Applications for readmission are reviewed by the Office of Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities and the academic dean of the School of Nursing & Health Professions.

Readmitted students will be placed on program probation.

 
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

Nursing students who were on program probation cannot reapply to the nursing program and are encouraged to submit a reapplication for a different program.

 
Readmission for Students Who Were Disqualified

 
College of Arts & Sciences and School of Management Programs

Students who were academically disqualified cannot apply for readmission without first appealing the disqualification.

  • or students disqualified from a bachelor’s program in the College of Arts & Sciences orr the School of Management (excluding the Bachelor of Arts program in Management), follow the appeals process with the Academic Disqualification Appeals Committee in the Center for Academic and Student Achievement (CASA).
  • For students disqualified from the Bachelor of Arts program in Management, contact Denise Mostowfi, Director of Academic Coaching and Transition for CASA, at dmostowfi@usfca.edu to appeal the academic disqualification.

If the appeal is successful, students may submit the readmission application which is reviewed by the Office of Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities and the academic dean of the respective school or college.

Readmitted students will be placed on academic probation and enrolled in the Back on Track Support Program with CASA.

If the appeal is not approved, then the student cannot return to USF for the requested semester.

Students who were permanently academically disqualified cannot return to USF.

 
Bachelor of Science in Public Health Program

Students who were disqualified from the program cannot apply for readmission without first appealing the disqualification.

  • For students disqualified from the Bachelor of Science program in Public Health, contact Stacey Kohut, Director of Undergraduate Student Services for the School of Nursing & Health Professions, at sekohut1@usfca.edu to appeal the disqualification.

If the appeal is not approved, then the student cannot return to USF for the requested semester.

 
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

Nursing students who were disqualified from the program cannot appeal the decision and, therefore, cannot reapply to the nursing program. Rather, they are encouraged to submit a reapplication for a different program.

USF reserves the right to deny readmission to any applicant and to deny and/or rescind readmission to any applicant who provides false or misleading information to the university, including conflicting information across multiple applications and/or cumulative application materials.
