Andy Chan serves as the inaugural program manager for the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Center at the University of San Francisco. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the AAPI Center and collaboratively supports the implementation of activities funded by the Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) grant at USF.

Andy received his bachelor of arts in Critical Diversity Studies from USF and served as an undergraduate research assistant with the Center for Institutional Planning and Effectiveness to survey the needs and experiences of Asian American and Pacific Islander undergraduate and graduate students. He then completed his master's degree in social work from California State University, Long Beach. Andy's graduate research explored identity development among Asian American young adults growing up in the United States, an area of research that continues to guide his work in supporting USF's students, staff, and faculty.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Andy is a former K-12 educator and taught afterschool ethnic studies with the Pin@y Educational Partnerships. Throughout college and grad school, Andy worked at community-based organizations that offer programs in the performing arts, college access and success, out of school-time, and transitional family housing.

Prior to his current role, Andy worked in Educational Technology Services to support the administration of online and hybrid education initiatives and co-led critical communication efforts at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the transition to telework and emergency remote learning. Since 2016, Andy also co-chairs the planning committee for the annual Critical Diversity Studies Forum and played a key role in coordinating the national Humanities Mellon Scholars Conference, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, in 2019 and 2023.
