Manuel Santos Chuakay, Jr. passed peacefully on August 20, 2025 at the age of 89 years old. Born in Manila, Philippines on December 18, 1935, he was the beloved son of Manuel Chua Caico and Flaviana Santos. In 1957, he graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in Finance. Manuel, Jr. married Paulina Mendoza Guidote on June 25, 1960. He shared an everlasting marriage of 65 years with his beloved wife. They were blessed with six children: Michael, Emmanuel, Janice, Paola, Myra, and Patricia.
He had a love for cars and dogs, was passionate about golf and basketball, and was an avid world traveler. A beloved patriarch whose warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew him. He took special pride in being able to hold and love four generations of his family, a testament to the rich and meaningful life he lived.
He is survived by his wife, Paulina; their children, Michael, Emmanuel, Janice, Paola (Enrico), Myra (Roderick) and Patricia (Brian); grandchildren, Christopher (Jadelynn), Christie (Brock), Nicole (Nick), Mia (David), Danielle, Nicholas, Anna, Jacob, Audrey, Lia, Samantha, Zachary and Natasha; and great grandchildren, Jordan, Carter, Sydney, Max, Dylan, Greyson, Shia, Rory, and Landon.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dominga, Roque, Isabelo Sr., Benita, Aurelio, Ester, Carlos, Belen, and Milagros.
Manuel Jr., also known to many as Manny, Totoy, GoChiak and Dad, was, above all, a very giving and devoted family man. He was a resident of Milpitas and San Jose, CA. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit continues to live on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends.
A celebration of life mass will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco, CA.
