The Department of Recreational Sports has been committed to finding solutions that allow us to keep the basketball courts within the facility available to all stakeholders.
The current SFDPH health order requires wearing a mask or face covering (well-fitting and covering your mouth and nose) in indoor gyms at all times (except in the pool, in the shower or when actively hydrating). We appreciate that this might be difficult, especially during certain high-intensity activities, however the safety of the community overrides the comfort and convenience of the individual. Due to ongoing challenges with mask compliance, equipment return and disrespectful interactions with staff on duty, the Koret Health and Recreation Center will temporarily close the basketball courts in Swig Gym and Hagan Gym on Thursday, 9/16 @ 9:45pm. This closure will not impact academic classes, intramurals or club sports programming, and will remain in effect until Monday, 10/4 @ 6am. (The court closure only applies to the basketball courts, the rest of the Koret Center will remain open with normal operating hours)
Additional information on updated rules, policies and protocols related to the use of basketball courts inside Koret will be communicated on Friday, 10/1 @ 12pm.
