Dear USF Community,
We write to provide you with an update on the progress of our investigation into allegations of 1) sexual misconduct concerning the men’s soccer team over the past decade, and 2) USF’s response to complaints of sexual misconduct involving the soccer team.
From the outset of the investigation, we have focused our efforts on identifying and interviewing those with knowledge of alleged sexual misconduct involving members of the soccer team in the past decade, as well as those with knowledge of USF’s handling of alleged incidents. Interviewees include survivors, witnesses with knowledge of alleged misconduct, soccer players, coaching staff and athletic department staff, and employees involved in responding to allegations of sexual misconduct. To date, we have reached out to close to 90 witnesses and have interviewed close to 60 witnesses. We are grateful to everyone who has participated in the investigation.
Because the investigation is ongoing, we cannot comment on the information we have gathered. However, we are making substantial progress in obtaining the information needed to reach findings. To protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of those involved, we have asked interviewees to treat the investigation as confidential while it is ongoing.
We understand the community’s interest in a prompt conclusion to the investigation. We appreciate the community’s patience as we balance the interest in timeliness with the equally important objective of conducting a thorough investigation that will enable the entire USF community to feel confident in the integrity of our findings.
