Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to share that Dean Otgontsetseg "Otgo" Erhemjamts will conclude her tenure as dean of the School of Management (SOM) at the end of the academic year in June 2027. Please join me in thanking her for her leadership and dedication during a period of significant change and innovation.
During Dean Erhemjamts’s tenure as dean, she and her leadership team guided the school through its full six-year AACSB Global reaccreditation, a distinction held by only a fraction of business schools worldwide. She also led a centennial celebration for the school in 2025 and championed numerous fundraising efforts, including helping to secure an inaugural major gift from Pete Slosberg to establish a university-wide entrepreneurship initiative. Under her leadership, SOM expanded new online graduate programs; the first accelerated 3+1 degree pathway; the Andersen Accounting Immersion partnership; and the Silk Family Investment Institute, made possible by an extraordinary gift from USF Trustee Jeff Silk '87 and his wife, Naomi Silk. In addition, Dean Erhemjamts led the school through a period of significant financial restructuring while maintaining its academic quality and positioning it well for its next chapter.
I look forward to working closely with Dean Erhemjamts and her leadership team this year, and I am grateful for her commitment to ensuring a smooth transition. In the fall of 2028, she will return to her role as professor of finance following a well-deserved sabbatical.
We will launch a national search this fall for the next SOM dean, chaired by Dean Eileen Fry-Bowers of the School of Nursing and Health Professions. In the coming weeks, I will outline the search process and share updates on both the committee membership and opportunities to be involved. We will begin by scheduling listening sessions with SOM faculty, SOM staff, and other university stakeholders to help complete the leadership profile.
