Music Minor

The Performing Arts Department offers the Performing Arts and Social Justice (PASJ) major and minors in Theater, Dance, and Music. Our program offerings include different styles and approaches to making art, celebrating diversity, and creatively reflecting on important issues of our times. We encourage USF students to discover the artist-activist in themselves.

Performance opportunities are open to all USF students regardless of previous experience with performing.

About the Concentration

The Music Program at the University of San Francisco invites students from all academic backgrounds to explore music as a powerful form of expression, inquiry, and social engagement. The program blends performance, theory, history, and technology to cultivate well-rounded musicianship. With no audition required for entry, we welcome beginners and experienced musicians alike, offering personalized instruction, diverse ensembles, and coursework that connects music to broader cultural and social contexts. Whether through solo performance, group collaboration, or academic study, students develop the creative and critical skills to make meaningful contributions through music, on campus and beyond.
