Representing the University

All Faculty:
Since the public judges the University and the teaching profession largely by the utterances of faculty members, faculty members should demonstrate at all times a high regard for the accuracy of their statements, should respect the opinions of others, and should make every reasonable effort to indicate that they speak as individuals rather than as representatives of the University.
Adjunct Faculty:
Adjunct faculty members may use their University of San Francisco faculty title as a form of identification in their professional or academic endeavors and are encouraged to do so in presentations, papers, publications, and other creative or scholarly work. The proper designation is ‘Adjunct Instructor’ followed by the name of the school. Adjunct faculty members should not, however, use their faculty titles to explicitly or implicitly claim to represent the views of the University of San Francisco or to seek or solicit clients, business relationships or other economic arrangements or to advocate or endorse causes that are not part of their University-related academic assignments.
Business Cards & Name Tags
All full-time faculty are entitled to business cards and name tags. USF has strict guidelines as to what can or cannot be placed on the card. If you need cards, Regina Maniti can help you order them.
Unfortunately, USF policy does not allow adjunct faculty to have University business cards.
Letterhead
A USF template with the letterhead can be obtained by reaching out to your program assistant. This template should only be used for approved university matters and letters of recommendation.
Adjunct faculty who are asked to write a letter of recommendation should do so as a private representative and cannot use USF letterhead.
