Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies
The Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies is the leading interdisciplinary journal on Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East. It carries unparalleled coverage of the languages, cultures and civilizations of these regions from ancient times to the present. Publishing articles, review articles, notes and communications of the highest academic standard, it also features an extensive and influential reviews section and an annual index.
Canadian Journal of African Studies
CJAS/RCEA is a multidisciplinary journal publishing articles in the areas of anthropology, political economy, history, geography, and development. Some of the articles also take an interdisciplinary approach. In addition to "Research Articles," the journal includes a section called "Debates and Commentaries/débats et commentaires" that presents divergent viewpoints on current issues. Another section called “Research Note/note de recherche" permits contributors to discuss the latest writing, opinion, and research sources on African issues. A book review and review essay section provides critiques of recent books and reports on Africa in general and on individual countries.

The International Journal of African Historical Studies publishes peer reviewed articles on all aspects of African history. The journal was established in 1968 as African Historical Studies
Journal of African History
The Journal of African History publishes articles and book reviews ranging widely over the African past, from the late Stone Age to the present. Historical approaches to the precolonial, colonial, and post-colonial periods are all welcome. The thematic range is equally broad, covering social, economic, political, cultural, and intellectual history. Recent articles have explored diverse themes including: labor and class, gender and sexuality, health and medicine, ethnicity and race, migration and diaspora, nationalism and state politics, religion and ritual, technology and the environment, and power and resistance.
Journal of Southern African Studies
The Journal of Southern African Studies is an international publication for work of high academic quality on issues of interest and concern in the region of Southern Africa. It aims at generating fresh scholarly inquiry and rigorous exposition in the many different disciplines of the social sciences and humanities, and periodically organizes and supports conferences to this end, sometimes in the region. It seeks to encourage inter-disciplinary analysis, strong comparative perspectives and research that reflects new theoretical or methodological approaches. The region covered embraces South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Angola and Mozambique; and occasionally, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar and Mauritius.
Transition
Transition was founded in 1961 in Uganda by the late Rajat Neogy and quickly established itself as a leading forum for intellectual debate. This series carries on a tradition of the original’s tough-minded, far-reaching criticism, both cultural and political. Transition is a unique forum for fresh perspectives on global issues, literature and art, cultures and people, with an emphasis on Africa and the diaspora.

ASQ is an interdisciplinary, fully refereed, online journal dedicated to publishing the finest scholarship relating to the African continent.
African Studies Review
The African Studies Review is the principal academic and scholarly journal of the African Studies Association. The ASR appears three times per year in April, September, and December, and is mailed to members of the Association as one of the many benefits of membership.
