Carlos Egan, colleague in the Facilities department for over thirty years, died last Thursday, January 13. Carlos was a much-depended upon crew member as part of the team of employees who moved equipment, furniture, and whole office suites, as well as setting up for large scale events, including graduations. When long-time Mailroom employee Raymond Luke retired, Carlos took that position, delivering campus mail and packages, though still assisting the regular crew whenever called upon. Carlos's dedication in his work to assisting others, his sense of humor, and his earnestness and kind soul will be greatly missed throughout the university community. He leaves behind his wife, Carmen Romero, children Karla and Marcos Egan, stepchildren Werner and Karla Ubau, Alexander and Sarahi Munguia, grandchildren Mili and Carlitos, Sophia, Alex, Stephanie, and Sasha, along with countless family, friends, and his beloved dog Jack.
A viewing will take place on Thursday evening, January 20th, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, with a vigil and rosary at 6:00 pm, at McAvoy-O'Hara Company Evergreen Mortuary, 4545 Geary Boulevard, San Francisco, CA 94118.
The Requiem Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Church on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11:00 am. There will be a brief opportunity for visitation in St. Ignatius Church just before the mass from 10:15-10:45 am.
Notes of condolence may be sent to Carmen Romero at 303 Anza Street, San Francisco, CA 94118.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to Carlos’s family, friends, and colleagues.
