Thesis in Sociology
Start Planning to Complete a Sociology Senior Thesis or Honors Thesis!
Senior/rising Senior Sociology majors have the opportunity to conduct their own sociological research and complete an undergraduate thesis paper on a topic of their choice, as well as present their research findings during Sociology's Thesis Colloquium.
Two Options to Complete a Sociology Thesis:
1) Senior thesis
- No GPA minimum required
- interested students must have completed SOC 150, SOC 297, SOC 306, and SOC 308
- Complete within one semester by taking SOC 410 Senior Thesis Workshop in the Fall
- Must receive registration approval from Sociology PA, Jamie Andan
2) honors thesis
- GPA minimum required.
- Complete within a two-semester sequence by taking SOC 408 Pre-Thesis Workshop in the Spring and SOC 410 Senior Thesis Workshop in the Fall (it is highly recommended for thesis students to have completed SOC 308 prior to taking SOC 409, but students can also take SOC 308 and SOC 409 within the same semester, if needed)
- Must receive registration approval from Sociology PA, Jamie Andan
