The Position
Stella Maris Academy seeks a dedicated and adaptable Permanent Substitute Teacher for our combined 7th/8th grade classroom beginning immediately through June 30, 2026. This individual will serve as a consistent daily presence on campus—teaching when assigned and providing instructional or operational support at other times. This role is ideal for a mission-driven educator who thrives in dynamic environments, values the classical Catholic tradition, and desires to contribute meaningfully to a close-knit school community. The Permanent Substitute reports to campus daily and serves as the primary classroom instructor when needed or as a support professional under the direction of the administration and faculty.

Position Summary
The Resource Teacher is an experienced educator with expertise in learning support who provides direct and collaborative instructional support for students in Grades 3–5. Reporting to the Dean of Academics, the Resource Teacher partners with classroom teachers, parents, administrators, and other members of the Resource Team to support students with identified learning differences and participate in the Student Support Team process.
This role is ideal for an experienced resource teacher or learning support professional who enjoys working directly with students while collaborating with teachers and families to help students with diverse learning needs thrive.
Responsibilities
Student Learning Support
- Provide learning support services for students in Grades 3–5 with identified learning differences.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations, learning strategies, and differentiated instructional approaches.
- Coordinate academic screenings and monitor student progress.
- Provide direct student support and intervention as appropriate.
- Communicate with families regarding learning support services and student progress.
- Guide parents through assessment and learning support processes.
- Collaborate with other members of the Resource Team to provide consistent and effective student support.
Student Support Team (SST)
- Participate in and support the Student Support Team process, including meetings, documentation, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Prepare and maintain student accommodation plans and related documentation.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and other professionals to implement recommended student supports.
Resource Program Collaboration
- Foster collaboration between classroom teachers and Resource staff.
- Work closely with the Dean of Academics and Resource Team to coordinate learning support services.
- Collaborate with outside educational specialists and service providers, as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid California Education Specialist Credential, Pupil Personnel Services Credential, or another appropriate California teaching/services credential.
- Experience working in special education, learning support, resource services, or a related educational setting.
- Experience collaborating with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and differentiated instruction.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Catholic school.
- Experience participating in or coordinating Student Support Team (SST) processes.

Salary & Total Compensation
Position: Full-Time, Exempt
Compensation: Compensation follows the Archdiocese of San Francisco 2026–2027 Instructional Staff Salary Schedule, with placement based on credentials and applicable years of teaching experience.
Anticipated Salary Range: $75,000–$95,000 annually, depending on credentials and applicable teaching experience.
