Community Reflection and Solidarity Space Tomorrow

Dear USF Community,

As we continue to process the guilty verdicts in the Derek Chauvin trial and remember the life of George Floyd, we invite you to come together tomorrow for a moment of reflection, solidarity, and hope. You will hear from a variety of students, staff, faculty, university, and community leaders who will provide prayers and reflections. McCarthy Center Senior Director Derick Brown will serve as moderator.

USF Community Reflection and Solidarity Space
Thursday, April 22
11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

While yesterday’s decision by the jury in Minneapolis offered some sense of accountability for the murder of George Floyd, there remains much work to be done to create a truly just, equitable society. As a mother, I personally recognize the deep emotional, spiritual, and psychological toll that events like this one take, especially for members of our Black community.

In the spirit of community and solidarity, it is important that we come together at this moment to support one another and to recommit to our shared mission to advance racial equity and social justice.

Warmly,

Mary Wardell-Ghirarduzzi
Vice Provost for Diversity Engagement and Community Outreach
