Community Update on COVID-19

Dear USF Community,

We know it is difficult to keep up with local and national changes to COVID-19 expectations, recommendations, and requirements. As we have since March 2020, we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our USF community in our response to the pandemic.

As the San Francisco Department of Public Health recently reminded us, COVID-19 will be with us for some time and may present new challenges. In San Francisco, COVID-19 case rates are rising. Hospitalizations remain low. As anticipated, we have seen an increase in cases within our own USF community as local and national mandates have relaxed and events and outings have returned.

What You Can Do

The number one thing each of you can do, in addition to being up-to-date with the COVID-19 vaccine, is to stay home if you are not feeling well, even if you had a negative COVID test. If you have unexplained symptoms, regardless of a negative COVID test, you should not participate in any campus events.

Our goal continues to be limiting the number of cases on campus. Another way to support this goal is to limit the number of times masks are coming on and off when gathering in groups. If you are planning events with food, please be mindful that this will require masks to be removed. Whenever possible, serve food outdoors.

Let’s end this semester strong. Please continue to wear a mask indoors, complete the Dons Health Check when you are coming to campus, be up-to-date with the vaccine, and do not come to USF if you are not feeling well.

Thank you,

COVID Management Team
