In Memoriam: Joseph A. Piasta II

We mourn the passing of longtime USF Law adjunct professor and proud double Don, Joseph A. Piasta II BA '73 JD '76. Joe passed away in his Santa Rosa home on July 19, 2024, following a three-year battle with cancer.

In addition to his thriving private practice, for over 20 years, Joe taught Discovery Practice and California Civil Discovery at USF Law. Joe specialized in civil litigation and trial practice with an emphasis on elder abuse, real estate, business employment, and personal injury litigation. He spent over 30 years in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps Reserve, retiring as a Colonel. Joe and his wife Kathy BA '75 had seven children, including USF alumni Mary '03, Edward JD '05, and Joan BA '11.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 27 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.
