2024 Go Move Challenge: Week One Recap

Georgetown Kickoff Walk

Published February 9, 2024

Happy 12th Anniversary to the Go Move Challenge. We are over a week into the challenge and the competition is steep even with the weather challenges: the west coast atmospheric river storm causing flooding and 100 mph winds and the east coast snow storms. The numbers continue to be impressive and are ever changing: over 2800 faculty and staff from 22 participating Jesuit Institutions,  have accumulated more than 585,000 (more than twice as many as last year at this time) minutes of activity!

Please share photos of how your university is staying active at gousf@usfca.edu.

Moving for Minutes

as of 9am pst on Feb. 9

The ones to beat for most minutes: Santa Clara University, Creighton University, and Saint Louis University

The ones to beat for average number of minutes: Canisius University, Santa Clara University, and Loyola University Chicago

Making a splash: Great to see other institutions making their way up to the rankings. Xavier, Fairfield, Regis, Marquette, Saint Peter's, and Boston College in the top 10 for average number of minutes per person. New records for number of registrants: Creighton has a record 528 registrants! Saint Louis has 372 and Regis has 136.

Teams, Teams, Teams: Santa Clara has 44 teams, USF has 20 teams, Creighton has 18, and Le Moyne and Regis have 15 teams. The team component adds a layer of camaraderie to the challenge, helping team members motivate each other to move more and encouraging each other to remember to track their minutes.

Creighton kick-off Polar Walk

Traditions Foster Community

Creighton University held it’s traditional Polar Walk as a kickoff to the 2024 Go Move Challenge. The Polar Walk brings faculty and staff together for a walk up and down the Creighton mall. The walk is roughly 30 minutes and gets all those who participate off on the right foot!

Way to go Creighton. Your participation and physical activity minutes demonstrate how determined your faculty and staff are!
