Inside CRASE

The mission of the Center for Research, Artistic and Scholarly Excellence (CRASE) at the University of San Francisco is to support, promote, and celebrate the excellent research and creativity of our faculty, librarians and staff. Through our events and programs, we catalyze innovative approaches, foster academic and creative development, build interdisciplinary and community connections, and strengthen the visibility and impact of our colleagues’ work.

Our goals are:

CONNECT: To connect faculty, librarians, and staff and foster meaningful collaborations and interdisciplinary, holistic perspectives.
PRODUCTIVITY: To provide practical, active experiences that inspire our productivity, innovative methods, creativity, and new ways of thinking.
IMPACT: To leverage our strengths and expertise in research and creativity to promote social impact, public debate, and discussion.
SUPPORT: To link our colleagues to available resources on campus, online, in the community, and through professional organizations.
VISIBILITY: To increase the visibility, prominence, and dissemination of research, artistic, and scholarly works created by members of the USF community.

The center is co-directed by professors Brian Komei Dempster (professor of rhetoric and language, faculty member in Asian Pacific American studies) and Saera Khan (professor in psychology, co-chair of the Department of Psychology). The advisory board consists of representatives from across all schools and colleges at USF and provides meaningful input that guides our team. With the help of vital support staff, CRASE organizes a number of events and workshops throughout the year to support and promote faculty research and creative work.
