Dear USF Students, Staff, and Faculty,
Welcome to the 2026–27 academic year on the Hilltop! We are excited to welcome our newest community members to campus.
Various state and federal laws require USF to provide information and notices to students on a variety of topics. In addition, the university occasionally develops statements or policies on important matters and distributes them to all students. Below is a listing of official notifications that are currently provided to students.
- Alcohol and Drug Policy — including Amnesty Policy
- Campus Security and Fire Safety Report (Clery Report)
- Smoke and Tobacco Free Campus
- Student Privacy (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act [FERPA])
- Sexual Misconduct Policy and Complaint Resolution Process (Title IX)
It is a student's responsibility to know and follow all current policies, procedures, and requirements at the departmental, college, and university levels, including those described in the university's student handbook, undergraduate catalog, graduate catalog, student housing terms and conditions, and university policy and procedures.
The Fogcutter Student Handbook and student conduct code went through a review and revision process this past spring, and several changes were implemented. Our office was fortunate to work with a group of students and staff on the revision. Please see the summary on the Fogcutter page for more information.
In our continuing efforts to reduce our environmental footprint and increase the efficiency of communication, the Fogcutter Student Handbook is only available online and contains the USF Statement of Responsibilities and Standards of Conduct (which includes the student conduct code) and other important university policies and procedures that every student at USF is responsible for knowing and upholding. It also includes information about the resources, programs, and services designed to promote students' success.
If you need alternative versions of the Fogcutter, you can contact the Student Disability Services office at (415) 422-2613, or (415) 422-5834 for TDD.
Students, please review the Fogcutter at your earliest convenience so that your transition into the new academic year is guided by an understanding of all the resources designed to help your personal and professional growth.
Staff and faculty, please review the Fogcutter so that as you orchestrate your daily activities, you will know the students' rights and responsibilities. It is also an excellent resource to help identify potential campus collaborators.
If you have any questions about the content and/or production of the Fogcutter, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibilities by phone at (415) 422-5330 or email at studentconduct@usfca.edu. Our office is located on the University Center's fifth floor. We wish you the best for the upcoming year and hope that you will take advantage of all the resources our campus has to offer!
Go Dons!
Respectfully,
The Office of Student Conduct, Rights, and Responsibility Staff
