Enrollment Verification Uses
Enrollment certificates can be used for insurance, scholarships, auto loan discounts, credit card applications, prospective employment, and other purposes. Certificates may be attached to third-party forms and returned directly to the requester.
What's included in the certificate:
- Current enrollment status (full-time or part-time).
- Enrollment history (terms attended, term dates, and enrollment status).
- Expected graduation date.
Important: Enrollment certificates do not include degree information. To verify your degree, please request an official transcript. Degree verifications are also available directly to employers and background screening agencies through Degree Verify with the National Student Clearinghouse.
Enrollment Verifications via National Student Clearinghouse
Students may obtain two types of enrollment verification certificates through the National Student Clearinghouse:
Enrollment Certificate
- Used to verify enrollment for the current term or all terms.
- Available: September 15 for the Fall term, February 15 for the Spring term, and June 15 for the Summer term.
- It is commonly required for purposes such as insurance, scholarships, housing, and other official verifications.
Advanced Registration Certificate
- Used to confirm upcoming enrollment before the start of the term.
- Available: May 15 for the Fall term, December 15 for the Spring term, and March 15 for the Summer term.
- It is useful when documentation is needed in advance of the term’s start.
- Both of these options are free of charge, can be downloaded/printed, and may be shared with third parties.
- Please be advised that the standard enrollment certificate includes the official USF logo as a watermark and is generally sufficient for most verification purposes.
Important: Degree verifications are only available in the form of an official transcript.
Details:
- Transcripts include awarded degrees and conferral dates.
- Available via the transcript request page.
- Fees will apply.
- Processing time varies by delivery method.
Students may request a custom verification when:
- Information needed is not included in an enrollment certificate or an official transcript and is explicitly deemed insufficient by the requesting organization.
- A third-party form must be completed by the Office of the University Registrar.
- A loan deferment form is required (see FAQs for more detail).
How to Request:
- Submit a request to the Office of the University Registrar via email: verifications@usfca.edu
- Students requesting a custom letter must include formal documentation from the requesting organization clearly stating why the standard documents are inadequate.
- Include any forms that need to be completed.
- Please ensure you have filled in the student section of the form and signed it.
- Allow processing time (typically 3-5 business days).
